What's on: A Deal for Every Day of the Week

Whether you’re after cheap eats, budget-friendly nights out or quirky experiences, Plymouth has plenty to offer. Here’s your student loan-approved guide to the best deals and discounts for every day of the week.

Kick off the week in style with a two-course meal for under £15 at Bistrot Pierre, a bougie French restaurant in the heart of Royal William Yard. Their ‘Prix Fixe’ menu (available 12-3pm, Monday to Friday) includes classics like warming tagine, an indulgent coq au vin, or a rich mornay fishcake (a personal favourite!). Still peckish? Head over to Armado Lounge for a slice of cake and turn your two-course meal into a three-course steal- all for under £20. Not bad for a Monday pick-me-up.

Yoga with a view? Yes, please. For just £10, you can unwind with a Hatha or Ashtanga yoga session in front of the NMA’s stunning Eddystone Reef exhibit. Hatha focuses on mindfulness and balance, while Ashtanga is a more dynamic flow. The practices are open-level, and instructors offer variations to allow for inclusive and empowering movements. They sell out fast and only run twice a month, so grab a spot in advance!

WEDNESDAY: Bouldering at the Life Centre

Bouldering has gained a cult-like following in the last few years for its full-body workouts and mental challenge. If it’s something you’ve been wanting to try, Wednesday sessions at The Life Centre are ideal, and only £4.50. With Give It a Go (GIAG), you can enjoy 25% off bouldering sessions when you book through the SU website, with no commitment and no expectation to be any good! Trying a new sport can be daunting, but the GIAG activities are specifically low-skill and fun-oriented, meaning there’s less for you to worry about.

THURSDAY: Thirsty Thursdays @ North Street

Sure, you try to squeeze into Jam House or Crafty Half for their £2.50 doubles, but if you fancy a more relaxed atmosphere, North Street No. 7 has got you covered. Tucked just below Ebrington Street, this hidden gem offers carefully curated indie-rock playlists, ambient lighting and some very cute canine clientele. Their Thirsty Thursday deals are some of the cheapest in Plymouth and rival the SU, with pints starting at just £3. Plus, you can actually hear your mates talk- rare for a Thursday night.

FRIDAY: £4.50 Doubles and Even-Cheaper Pints

One of the best ways to mark the start of the weekend is with some more cheap drinks! The Roundabout’s £4.50 doubles on a Friday make for an affordable start to the weekend, but if you’re after something even cheaper, the SU bar has pints of Thatcher’s Gold and Amstel for £2.50 from 8 pm-midnight. Many bars also run happy hour for cocktails, so keep an eye out for more steals.

SATURDAY: Super Saturdays at The Box

If you’re looking for a more wholesome way to start your weekend, Super Saturdays at The Box are perfect. Once a month, they run a day of celebration centred around their current exhibition, offering talks and events that are usually free. Their next event is on the 5th of April, and activities include a ‘Meet the Experts’ drop-in with scientists from Plymouth Marine Laboratory and representatives from the Sharks Trust. You can also take part in a ‘Digital Dive’ where you can create 3d scans of shells and support restoration efforts by creating nutrient balls that support the growth of seagrass meadows in the Southwest. It’s a fun, interactive way to explore local conservation efforts (and impress your lecturers with some extra knowledge!).

SUNDAY: The Best Eats to End Your Week

Sundays are for comfort food, and Ocean View at The Dome offers a 2-4-1 deal on breakfasts between 9 and 11:45 am. Grab two bacon sarnies for £6.50, or a full English for £7.50 if you bring a mate. They do advise you to book beforehand, as it can get quite busy.

If you’re skipping breakfast (or recovering from Saturday night), one of Plymouth’s best Sunday roasts at The Fisherman’s Arms is exactly what you need. For £15, expect fresh veggies, generous portions, and an optional side of cauliflower cheese for just £3.50. This historic pub also has a resident Miniature Schnauzer, which will help beat the Sunday scaries.

From budget bites to bargain experiences, there’s something for everyone, every day of the week.
